Back Creek Kennel Puppies

A lot of folks have been asking me about my breeding plans for 2012. Last year (2011), was the first year in many years that I did not have a litter at Back Creek Kennel. I now have a number of folks looking for pups, so here are the litters that I plan to have later this year: Labrador Retriever Puppies I plan to have a labrador retriever litter in the spring/summer of 2012. The mother is a black female out of Reese and Rhett. Based on when she had her last heat cycle, this breeding will hopefully take place sometime around the first of March, with pups arriving (hopefully) in April, and ready to go to their new homes late May/early June. I am still in the process of selecting a stud dog, but a titled yellow male with a strong genetic background is on my wish list. Blacks and yellows would be expected in this breeding. Puppy prices TBD. Golden Retriever Puppies I also plan to breed Nelli, my golden retriever in 2012. Based on her last heat cycle, I would expect this breeding to occur on or around the middle of May, with pups arriving in July, and ready to go to their new homes sometime towards the end of August/first of September. A stud dog has not as yet been chosen for this breeding, but it will be a titled male with a sound genetic history. Puppy prices TBD. Boykin Spaniel Puppies I hadn't really planned to bred Nicki in 2012, but after folks started seeing her work in the field, I have had a number of requests for one of her pups. I am still in the process of getting all her clearances, but I hope to have that completed soon. I am anticipating being able to breed Nicki sometime in May based on her last heat cycle, with pups arriving in July, and ready to go to their new homes towards the end of August. I have begun my research for a genetically strong, field tested male that will mesh nicely with Nicki's pedigree. More info to follow. Puppy prices TBD. For all those that have asked, all puppies produced at Back Creek Kennel are appropriately socialized, have their first 4-way shot, dew claws removed, wormed, and introduced to feathers, gunfire, and water (weather permitting). When possible, I try to schedule the whelping of my litters to occur during the period January through May, which gives prospective puppy owners ample time to not only instill basic training, but it also allows for an introduction to water, guns, decoys, etc., prior to hunting season. Sometimes, however, a breeding opportunity arises that I just can’t turn down resulting in a late summer or fall litter. Such being the case, check back from time to time to see what puppies I may have available. |
