Having wanted a field quality golden retriever for several years, I was fortunate to locate a breeder in Maryland that had a reputation for producing outstanding field quality goldens.  When the breeder finally had a litter that met my performance criteria, I made the trip to Maryland in August 2006, and brought Nelli home to Back Creek.  The remainder of 2006 was spent getting Nelli acclimated to water, birds, and gunfire and teaching her basic obedience.  In December 2006, a six-month old Nelli and I headed to Kansas for a taste of greenheads and ring necks.  Nelli certainly exceeded all my expectations on this trip, as she found upland hunting to be just as much fun as chasing crippled mallards!  During 2007, Nelli progressed through force fetch and then basic handling.  She made the return trip with me to Kansas and had a blast fetching mallards and chasing ring necks.  Now that she has a second hunting season under her belt, she is now considered one of my "seasoned" retrievers.  We are looking forward to Nelli's first breeding, so stay tuned for updates on when puppies might be available.

As you can see from the pictures above and below, Nelli loves to retrieve any type of feathered fowl, and if her performance in the field in 2007 is any indication of what is to come, she is poised to become another in a long line of outstanding Back Creek retrievers!
