11-1986:   My first trip to the Mid-West for waterfowl and pheasant.   Hunted with George Freeman in and around Minden, Nebraska.   The first day of our hunt found us on a State managed waterfowl area in the middle of a mid-west blizzard!   Barely able to see through the snow, we shot our limit of greenheads in about 20 minutes.  Dark geese also arrived with the blizzard and we took limits of dark geese (both greater Canada's and the smaller cacklers) for three straight days.  Temperatures rarely got above freezing all week (set many local low temp. records in that area that week!)

11-1991:  Duck hunt at Sacramento-Wilcox Wildlife Area in south central Nebraska with Steve Sipe, Lacey and Abbey.   Hunted out of a State maintained blind over flooded marsh.  Broke ice to put out decoys and enjoyed flocks of 25 - 125 mallards working us all morning.   Steve found out later that day just how cold the water was when the ice gave way under his weight and he took a dive!  Nothin' left floating but his cap!

11-1992:  Snow goose hunt near Sutton, Nebraska.  On our way out to Holdrege, NE. to pheasant hunt, we happened to find a few thousand snows lounging around a small lake and adjacent corn field.   After receiving permission to hunt, a plan was quickly crafted on how to get close enough for a shot.  We made a short stalk and were able to drop several birds as they flew from the corn field back to the lake.
